Broken Hill the "Silver City" at the Heart of the accessible outback. The City of Broken Hill has developed as a vibrant mecca for artists and filmmakers, a long way from its roots as the site of the richest deposit of Silver Lead and Zinc the world has ever seen.

Among the traditional Outback attractions open to Visitors are the Royal Flying Doctor Service and School of the Air. For those interested in Mining and Minerals there are a host of attractions ranging from simulated mines to the real thing where you donArgent Street lights and helmets to enter the subterranean world that miners experienced during the 1890's and the 1960's.

Broken Hill is a soothing, green oasis in the sometime harsh Australian Outback. The City features twenty four art galleries and is home to over 90 professional and semi professional painters who draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape.

Movies such as Mad Max 2, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Race the Sun and Razorback were all filmed in the City as well as a host of television commercials both for local and overseas markets.

A key feature of the area is the abundant wildlife that is easily accessed through nearby National Parks and the Living Desert Reserve.

Opportunities to explore the culture of local aboriginal groups can be found within the City whilst nearby Mootwingee National Park is one of the most significant cultural sites in the entire country.
